Community Involvement

Chan Nowosad Boates' is involved with many non-profit organizations in the community. Our firm donates audit services to various non-profit organizations in the area of recognition of their valuable services to our community. We also encourage our staff and partners to volunteer their skills and time to non-profit organizations.

The team members have supported the partners in contributing to the success of the United Way over the years. Team members contribute through payroll deductions that all three partners match and the office has organized ball tournaments and assists in the annual golf tournament. To date, our office has raised over $100,000 for this one charity and has financially supported many others.

Chan Nowosad Boates is also a strong supporter of the Campbell River Community Foundation; the partners have committed $20,000 to the foundation over the period 2007 to 2010. The partners also support team members wishing to participate in the Foundation's annual golf tournament. As well, Shelly Boates, with direct assistance from Cara Mann, acted as Treasurer of the Campbell River Community Foundation's Golf Tournament.

Shelly Boates was the Secretary-Treasurer of the United Way of Campbell River for thirteen years and served one year as the Chair. Since leaving the Board she remains dedicated to the organization. She is now involved with the Success by Six program as the United Way Representative with the Lead Partners for the North Island. Shelly is presently involved with Community Futures by being a director on the Board and Committee Chair of the Business Futures Program Shelly is also on the board of the CR chapter of The Canadian Parents for French. Previous involvements include being a sitting member of the North Island College Advisory Committee and the Business and Professional Women's Network Board.

Erica Chan-Lafrance is a member of the Daybreak Rotary Club, United Way Campaign Cabinet, the Success by Six program and volunteers her time as the Treasurer of the Cops for Cancer Golf Tournament. She also volunteers her time as a volleyball coach at École Phoenix Middle School.

Ray Dagenais volunteers his time as the Treasurer of both the Campbell River Public Art Gallery and the CR Networking Association. Ray is also actively involved with the Cops for Cancer and Howie Meeker Golf Tournament Committees.

Julie Chenard is a Rotarian of the Daybreak Rotary and is the Co-Chair of the Campbell River Children's Festival. Julie also volunteers her time as Treasurer for the Campbell River Multicultural and Immigrant Services Association, the Campbell River Marine Rescue Society and is a Board member for the Campbell River Hospice Society. She is also a volley ball coach at École Phoenix Middle School.

Neil Chapman is the treasurer of the Accessible Wilderness Society working to create barrier free wilderness experiences for every body to enjoy and Charlene Brown is the treasurer for the Words on the Water Campbell River Writer's festival.

Several Staff act as Treasurer's of their organizations, including Carol Turko for the Campbell River Women's Hockey League, Donna McKenzie for her son's hockey team as part of the Campbell River Hockey Association, and Danielle Skilton for the Campbell River Field Lacrosse Association.

We are very proud of our firm's commitment to a community that has supported all of us.
